Like most art and writing you don't need a education to be a mangaka. But formal education can help you jumpstart your career. Being a mangaka can be hard work and if your good it can really pay off. Mangakas make on average $1,012 per manuscript. Mangakas work countless hours and rarely ever reap the benefits. Some mangaka work there entire lives without ever being recognized.
