WHY IS CODING IMPORTANT?

RESEARCH

According to the Association of Computer Machinery, coding is the backbone of nearly anything in the world; such as driving, watching movies, how cameras develop, literature, and even coffee making. That might surprise you, but the reality is that if you understand the foundations of coding, it opens new doors in career choices for a person in the 21st century. By taking computer science, it may help you through whatever you decide to pursue in life.

Becoming a computer scientist means you can be part of a change in the world. This can be as simple as developing a website/platform to vocalize your own research or awareness about a certain topic. Perhaps it could go as far as taking a whole new level like helping third world countries with getting education and attention they need. Also, statistics have shown that 85% of purchase decisions is from women. Which can lead to saying that online users are mostly women. So, with them dominating the internet, it would only be sensible to have some females giving perspective on what consumers would like. Lastly, in general, women need more representation in this industry. A famous quote by CEO and founder of Girls Who Code clearly depicts this, "I think for girls, you cannot be what you cannot see”. This means that if females aren't encouraged or shown to take interest in computer science then they might not feel comfortable in taking new leaps or bounds. These are a couple of reasons why we need more female representation in the computer science industry.
