I ran in the turkey trot on thanksgiving day last week. It was an 8 mile timed race, and I ran alongside my dad for a significant portion of the race, however me and him were very competitive so I ran off without him and beat him in the race. I ended with a time of 1:20:39 and beat my dad by 3 minutes. For the last half a mile in the race, I sprtinted and passed several hundred people. There were several thousand people in the 8 mile race and nearly 25 thousand people total at the event.
After we got home, I was in a lot of pain since I was wearing improper shoes for running, and I had also been sick before running in the race.
