The man at the forefront of the solution started at a young age. Boyan Slat at age 16 began formulating his solution to clean the oceans of plastic. His plan uses massive floating U-shaped booms that act as a mini coastline in the water. Just as beaches collect plastic these booms will do that same. These booms are also designed in such as way that they have little to no affect on marine life.
