Lack of Education

Adult Statistics:

759 million adults are illiterate and do not have the skills necessary to improve both their living conditions for themselves and their children.

One in six adults on the planet cannot read or write. Research shows that adults with less than five to six years of education remain functionally illiterate.

Children Statistics:

More than 72 million children are not in school. Of those who go to school, one in four drops out before completing five years of basic education.

Children from the poorest households are almost five times more likely to be out of primary school than those from the richest households

15 million children are looking for work instead of education

25,000 young girls a day are forced into marriage and taken out of school

Most Affected Regions:

Sub-Saharan Africa has the most uneducated children with over 32 million uneducated children.

Central and Eastern Asia, as well as the Pacific, are also severely affected by this problem with more than 27 million uneducated children.
