2019 Predictions

Pre-Oscars 2019

I normally don't base off of my own opinion and mainly base it off of the opinions of the Academy and other award shows towards certain movies. I look at which type of category is won by which movie the most to see if it'll win the Oscar. This year, I'm doing the same thing on method of predictions. Looking at past awards shows and the Academy's opinions of certain movies, I predict they will pick Roma to be Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography, and Best Foreign Language Film. I think Best Actor will go to either Christian Bale for Vice or Rami Malek from Bohemian Rhapsody. Best Original Screenplay seems like it'll go to Green Book, which looks like it'll also win Best Supporting Actor for Mahershala Ali. Best Visual Effects is a tricky one to predict since Black Panther keeps winning that award in past award shows. However, it didn't get nominated for the Oscars. Avengers: Infinity War and Ready Player One frequently gets nominations in that category for past award shows, making one of the two the likely winners.

Post-Oscars 2019

The Oscars have now passed and the winners are in! As we all know, Best Picture went to Green Book. I was correct Roma would win Best Cinematography, Directing, and Foreign Language Film. I was correct Green Book would win Best Original Screenplay and Supporting Actor. First Man won Best Visual Effects, which might be because it used some practical effects while Infinity War and Ready Player One's effects were complete CGI. Paul Rudd, the actor who plays Ant-Man, presented that Oscar and sounded pissed when he read out the envelope. Rami Malek was able to win Best Actor for Bohemian Rhapsody. The movie won the most amount of Oscars that night with not only Best Actor, but also Best Film Editing, Best Sound Editing, and Best Sound Mixing. Black Panther, Roma, and Green Book each won 3 Oscars. Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse won Best Animated Feature. Samuel L. Jackson (the actor who plays Nick Fury from the MCU) and Brie Larson (the actress who plays Captain Marvel) presented the Oscars for both Original and Adapted Screenplay. Samuel L. Jackson sounded pissed when Green Book won best Original Screenplay. He also went crazy when Blackkklansman won Best Adapted Screenplay since one of the writers, Spike Lee, is a friend of Sam Jackson's. Spike Lee was so crazy and excited, he jumped onto Sam Jackson. It was also interesting with no host for the Oscars.
